Our voice

I bet you’re swamped with emails from candidates asking for donations who don’t even try to earn it.

I know the value of your support, so I refuse to do that.

Instead, I’m going to state plainly, right up front: South Texas is worth fighting for.

I was blessed to have a career for 30 years in Tejano music, releasing albums and even winning a couple of Latin GRAMMY awards. But I gave it all up to run for Congress, and I’m going to tell you why.

South Texas gave me a voice. This community, my gente, they deserve a voice in Washington.

We’ve had enough of politicians like Monica De La Cruz who forget our community until election season comes around. We have folks down here who can’t afford to pay their rent or mortgage or hospital bills, and it’s met with utter silence by the people we entrust to do something about it.

So I stepped up.

One year later, TX-15 is the tipping-point race that could give Democrats control of Congress. Nate Silver says so, and the polls back him up. Four straight polls show us leading in a district Trump won by 18.

I’ve asked a lot of you, and I don’t ever take your support for granted.

But early voting begins in Texas tomorrow, we’re being outspent on TV, and Republicans just moved a ton more money into South Texas to try to slow us down.
